Yoga, an ancient but perfect science, deals with the evolution of humanity. This evolution includes all aspects of one’s being, from bodily health to self-realization. – B.K.S. Iyengar

The power of Yoga lies in the traditions deep understanding of the mind and body relationship. Yoga may be marketed in magazines as a way to give you a great physique, but the aim of traditional yoga is to restore health of the body and a peace for mind.

Yoga is not about doing the hard poses (asanas), it should be comfortable (Sukha) & steady (Sthira). One should always keep these two words in mind when practicing Yoga.

Yoga includes Asana (postures) and Pranayama (controlled breathing), which is to promote good health and keep our wandering mind in control.

During complex asanas, breathing is essential in controlling the stress that may be caused by the asana in the body. When we can accomplish this during Yoga, the same technique can be applied to every day stress response by slowing down the breathing and heart rate. This helps to calm the mind and body, and help you deal with stress more efficiently on daily basis. Breathing techniques are essential for a well-being.

Yoga works from the inside out by massaging, stretching and lubricating your internal organs. It helps with many illnesses in the body.
One of the examples: arthritis is a very common disease nowadays. As per the doctor, there is a medicine for this illness, but it is not the cure of this disease – it’s just a temporary relief from the pain. You will have to take this medicine forever and increase the dose with time. But Yoga can help to cure arthritis. When stretching the local area where the arthritis problem is, you will increase the blood circulation and it will also help to create a space between two bones, which will reduce the pain. No medicine can give you this result.

Similar with Thyroid – Yoga will teach you how to stretch the thyroid gland and activate it so you can bring it in balance. So Yoga is not just an exercise, it is the way to maintain your health to live a healthy lifestyle. Everybody and anybody can do it regardless of their ability and limitations. When you are being aware of your breath, it creates a mind and body connection.

99.9% diseases start from your unstable mind. In this busy life we are only paying attention on exercising our physical body. Even when we are exercising we are never aware of our body or our movement. Our mind is always wondering around. Yoga can teach you how you can control your mind and synchronize with your moment and you can be fully present.
